Megan Fox. Mila Kunis. Kim Kardashian. What do these three women have in common? Other than the fact that they are a few of the biggest female celebs of our time, these leading ladies all have stunning eyes. These stunning eyes are framed by thick, full, voluminous eyelashes.
There is no shame in wanting celeb-status eyelashes just like these women. The good news it that this goal is completely reachable and there are a few ways to achieve eyelashes similar to the likes of Fox, Kunis, and Kardashian. You have the option to get permanent eyelash extensions, apply fake lashes by the day, or use a serum to enhance eyelash growth.
Want to learn how to do eyelash extensions on your own? Follow this step-by-step guide and you’ll be on your way to long and full eyelashes that any celeb would be jealous of.
Step 1: Use the under eye stickers provided with the eyelash extension kit
Most kits will come with these stickers to help with the extension process. Place the sticker over the lower lashes of each eye, measuring it about 3 millimeters from the lower lash line.
Step 2: Choose your extensions
You should choose a variety of extension lengths, ranging from 6 to 14 millimeters long. 8 mm lashes are best for the corners of the eye and longer ones are appropriate to use across the eye. Try to also use 8mm lashes throughout, placed strategically between the longer lashes for a full yet natural look.
Step 3: Pick up and dip
This is the more difficult steps and one of the main reasons people choose to get their lashes done professional. You need to spread the lashes you’ve chosen on a vinyl pad using tweezers. Then, dip the extension into the adhesive, not too much but enough to make the extensions stick properly.
Step 4: Isolate the natural lash
While holding the extension with your tweezers, isolate the natural lash and swipe the extension along it. You’ll need to use a good amount of adhesive along the entirety of the natural lash before setting the extension.
Step 5: Set the extensions in place
The setting process requires you to place the extension about ½ mm from the eyelid. Once set, release it and check that there are no clumps of glue. Try not to touch the extensive during this step or else the lash will not set properly.
Step 6: Separate the lashes
Each lash should be separate from the next, on other words none of the extensions should be stuck together. Use tweezers if lashes seem to be stuck, but do so carefully. Be sure not to pull at your real lashes, only the artificial ones.
Step 7: Dry
Now all you have to do is wait. Your brand new lashes need to dry for a few minutes to make sure they are on securely. Once dry, mist your lashes with a spray bottle of distilled water, and allow to dry once again.
