Your bedroom should be the one place in your home where you’re able to completely relax and be yourself. One way to help facilitate this for yourself is to have the right lighting setting the right atmosphere in that space. However, many people don’t know how to best create the right atmosphere using the lighting in their bedroom.
To help you in figuring this out, here are three tips for setting up the perfect lighting in your bedroom.
Create Warm Light
Part of making your room feel relaxing and comfortable for you should include creating a lighting atmosphere that’s warm. Otherwise, the lighting of your room could feel too stark and sterile, which many people don’t find to be welcoming in their personal space.
To ensure that you get lights that will be warm in your room, you should try to choose lights that have a warm or neutral light temperature. This will usually mean that lights are between 2,700 and 3,000K. Additionally, make sure that you put the same warmth of lights into each light fixture that you have in your room. This way, you won’t have to worry about any of your lights clashing with each other and potentially causing issues with your lighting.
Choose Three Different Kinds Of Lights
Another thing you should keep in mind is the way in which you layer the lighting in your bedroom.
Ideally, you should try to have at least three different layers of lights that you have available to you. These layers of lighting can include things like task lighting, overhead lighting, floor lamps, and more. By having multiple layers of lighting that you can use, you can easily turn on or off different lights to create the exact atmosphere in your room that you want. You can also create different areas of your room based on the lighting that you have there. For example, you can have task lighting right over your desk and have a table lamp right by your bed so that you can read at night.
Make Light Switches Easy To Reach
While you might not have a lot of control over where the light switches in your room are right now, if you plug in other lights around your room, try to position them so that the switches are going to be easy for you to turn on or off based on where you are around the room. This way, if you’re using a light close to your bed while you read at night, try to keep the light close enough that you can easily turn it off and get back into bed without having to walk through the dark too much.
If you want to have the perfect lighting setup for your bedroom, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you get everything situated to create the perfect environment for your needs.
